The fact is, some parts of the world, like Europe, have already lost over 70% of their insect life, and he percentage of insect life lost increases every time a new generation of wireless technology is introduced. Seventy percent is too much–far too much. The world needs insects for all sorts of things–pollination, decomposition, and as food for other creatures including birds, amphibians and small mammals.
Bees are insects. There are a great many species of bees, from large carpenter bees and bumblebees to bees so tiny you might never notice them. Most people think of domesticated honeybees when they think of bees, but they aren’t the only kind around. Honeybees are particularly vulnerable to EMR because they nest in colonies above ground and need to orient themselves by the earth’s geomagnetic field in order to get to and from their hives. Bees that nest and reproduce underground are, according to a recent study done in Greece, less vulnerable to cell tower radiation than their domestic cousins. And while all bees are pollinators, it is the domestic honeybee that pollinates most of the crops we grow. Without honeybees, we wouldn’t have most of the fruits and vegetables we eat. We wouldn’t have coffee, cocoa or cotton, either.
Albert Einstein once said that mankind wouldn’t survive more than four years if the bees disappeared. We may be about to test the veracity of that statement, since bees are already in trouble and 5G may wipe them out,
Most beekeepers that I have met are convinced that EMR kills bees. They have seen their colonies collapse when cell towers are placed near their hives, and they have seen bees become confused and unable to orient themselves in areas with a lot of EMR. A lot of bees are dying on this island, and beekeepers here are very worried. Last winter, some beekeepers lost half their hives.
My husband and I have observed some very odd things ourselves. Last spring, when we were still living in town, we kept finding dead bees everywhere–on windowsills, on balconies, on the steps up to our house. On a walk up the mountain which hosts a group of cell towers, we found a long trail of dead bees on the dirt road–they all seemed to have dropped dead in mid-flight. We know for sure that in both cases pesticides were not to blame. No one had been spraying trees or land anywhere near the dead bees.
EMR plays a large role in compromising bees’ immunity to diseases and pests such as the varroa mite. EMR causes oxidative stress in all living creatures, and oxidative stress reduces the body’s ability to fight infection by suppressing the immune system. Whatever is causing the bees to die, the fact is that they are becoming scarcer. Some days we go on long walks in the country and see no bees at all. This is not right.
Bees are too important to take chances with. It won’t do a lot of good to ban 5G after it kills all the insects, including bees. Some people say more research is needed. That’s fine–but it should be done BEFORE 5G is installed anywhere. Afterwards will be too late. And this is why many beekeepers are saying “No” to 5G.
Personally, I think there is enough evidence that EMR harms insects–including bees–to ban 5G right now. I think the Insect Inspector would agree with me. Do you? If so, you should be out there protesting against 5G in every way you can.
